Why Warning Triage exists
Open the warnings dialog on a model that has been running for a year and you get thousands of entries in a scrolling list, sorted by nothing in particular, described in language that assumes you already know what the problem is. Some of them matter. Most do not. The dialog gives you no way to tell which is which, so the usual outcome is that nobody reads it at all.
How Warning Triage works
Run Warning Triage to scan every warning attached to the document.
Identical warnings are grouped together and each group is classified High, Medium or Low, so the counter at the top tells you how bad it actually is rather than just how long the list is.
Selecting a group shows three things side by side: the raw Revit message, what it actually means in plain language, and how to fix it.
The affected element IDs are listed alongside, with buttons to select them in Revit or copy the IDs out.
Filter by severity, category or search text, then export the triaged list to CSV for an issue log.

The warnings dialog is a wall of text that gets closed again, so genuinely bad warnings sit next to harmless ones for months.
After
You know which warnings in this model are worth an hour and which are not, and so does whoever picks it up after you.
When to reach for it
- A model whose warning count has quietly grown past the point where anyone reads it.
- Onboarding to an unfamiliar project and wanting to know how healthy the file really is.
- Deciding what to actually fix when there is time for some cleanup but not all of it.
What it does not do
- It categorises and explains. Resolving a warning still means going to the elements and making a modelling decision.
- Nothing is deleted or auto-fixed. Automatically resolving warnings by deleting elements is how models get damaged.
- Severity comes from matching the warning text against a known list. A warning it does not recognise is labelled unclassified rather than guessed at - but it sits under the Low Risk header, so something genuinely bad that the table has never seen looks harmless at a glance.
- The severity table matches English warning text. On a Revit running in another language every warning lands in the unclassified bucket - the grouping, the element lists and the export still work, the triage does not.
- Selecting elements is capped - five hundred from a single group, a thousand across a filtered set, and two hundred rows shown in the element list at a time. A group with thousands of occurrences is worked through with Copy All IDs rather than one selection.
Questions
- Is it safe to ignore Revit warnings?
- Some of them, yes - plenty describe conditions that are intentional and harmless. Others point at geometry or data problems that get worse as the model grows. The difficulty has always been telling them apart in a list that presents them identically, which is what the severity grouping is for.
- Does it delete or fix warnings automatically?
- No. Nothing in the model is changed. It classifies, explains and helps you select the elements involved.
- How do I find which elements a warning belongs to?
- Select the warning group and the element list appears beside it, with the category and type name for each. From there you can select them in Revit directly or copy the full ID list.
- Is this tool free?
